The Clinical Nurse Education Specialist in Oncology provides expert nursing support, education, and professional development to healthcare team members focused on oncology care. This role involves developing educational plans, facilitating patient teaching, participating in research, and serving as a clinical resource within a hospital setting. Required qualifications include advanced nursing degrees, certifications in oncology and life support, and experience in oncology nursing and nurse education.

A day in the life of a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Functioning as an expert clinical nurse resource assisting team members, physicians, patients, and the community in new or complex interventions
• Acting as a role model by demonstrating current trends and providing professional development opportunities for team members
• Independently developing, implementing, and evaluating an educational plan to meet the needs of team members
• Actively participating in the research process and utilizing the information to further enhance patient care
• Functioning in the role of the clinical nurse specialist to nursing staff, administrators, physicians, and the community
• Facilitating patient teaching and support programs utilizing the nursing process

• Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license is required
• MSN or Master's Degree in a health-related field is required
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification is required
  
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Certification strongly preferred
• Oncology nursing experience required, including experience with bone marrow transplants is strongly preferred
• Nurse educator experience strongly preferred
• National Certification in Oncology required
