100% onsite; Full-time - Contract to Hire opportunity Mortgage Loan Processor/ Underwriter Housing Program Eligibility & Compliance Specialist About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Housing Program Eligibility & Compliance Specialist to support affordable housing and homebuyer assistance programs. This position is ideal for an experienced mortgage professional with 3 5 years of loan processing and/or underwriting background, who understands loan file documentation, income evaluation, and program eligibility requirements. This is not a traditional mortgage lending role. Instead, it applies mortgage expertise in a public-sector, program-administration environment, ensuring housing program applications meet established guidelines, compliance standards, and federal/state requirements. Key Responsibilities Review homebuyer assistance applications for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility. Analyze borrower documentation, including income, assets, credit, and property information, to determine compliance with program guidelines. Validate program requirements using principles commonly applied in loan processing and underwriting. Collaborate with lenders and partners to resolve discrepancies, request missing documentation, and clarify program rules. Assist in developing and maintaining program manuals, checklists, and compliance tools. Conduct quality control audits on submitted files to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal and regulatory standards. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate records and protect sensitive borrower information. Support special projects, reporting, and program enhancements as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 3 5 years of experience in mortgage processing, underwriting, or similar mortgage operations roles. Strong understanding of loan documentation, credit analysis, income calculation basics, and guideline interpretation. Experience working with lenders, loan officers, processors, or underwriters. Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to interpret program policies and apply them consistently. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and document management systems. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with housing agencies, housing finance programs, affordable housing initiatives, or public-sector organizations. Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, or conventional lending guidelines. Experience conducting file reviews, compliance checks, or quality control audits. Understanding of fair housing and lending regulations.
