- Quarry Manager/ForemanPortland Group is looking for a QUARRY MANAGER/QUARRY FOREMAN at our group of companies. Our offices are situated outside Durbanville on the Vissershok Road. These positions are available at our Portland Paardeberg Quarry outside Malmesbury.The person will take charge of a granite open cast mine as well as a sand mine, this position reports to the Operational Manager.**Responsibilities**: • General managing of the day-to-day operations, which will include adherence to Health & Safety protocols • Production Efficiency by ensuring that the daily targets are met, action on issues when arise (such as plant or fleet breakdowns, staff absentees, incidents, technical issues, client complaints etc.) • Arrange and plan for drilling and blasting • Ensure machinery is properly maintained, and being operated according to stipulated legal requirements and safety standards • Ensure maintenance schedules are properly managed – which includes proper preventative maintenance planning • Take responsibility of the quality of material produced • Manage, prepare for and facilitate monthly DMRE inspections – ensure compliance • Ensure annual mining surveys are conducted, and future planning done • Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act • Ensure compliance of the mine’s Environmental Management Program (EMP) • Manage, prepare for and facilitate ASPASA Audits – ensure compliance • Report and action incidents according to procedure and assist with investigation and resolution • Manage, follow up and close out client queries and complaints and keep clients in the loop (provide continuous feedback)**Minimum Requirements:** • Examine and Make Safe qualification • Open cast blasting ticket • NQF5 will be a bonus • Excellent management and customer service skills • Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant technical, production and planning fields • Excellent communication, problem solving and team management skillIf you don’t have the above, please do not apply. This position offers a market-related salary – dependent on previous experience and qualifications. Employees become members of a provident fund after their probation period. The annual close down is in December/January during the builder’s holiday. Working hours are from 07:00 to 17:30, but only until 15:00 on a Friday.
