Job Description and Duties

This position is located in Coalinga, CA.

Administer diagnostic tests to determine the nature and extent of speech disorders; provide individual and group speech therapy services to clients/patients; prepare reports and summaries on diagnosis, progress and recommendations for assigned cases; confer with teachers, parents and employees in therapeutic procedures and methods of motivating clients/patients related to speech therapy; attend clinics and keep notes; develop and direct research projects and may supervise the work of Speech Pathologist License Applications.

Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.

All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 30, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is  America Federation of State, County, and Municipal Engineers (AFSCME) , subject to 3%in salary reduction, accruing approximately 5 hours of PLP each month.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification (link available in the Minimum Requirements section).
• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Speech Pathology License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

This advertisement will remain posted until the position(s) have been filled. Cut-off-dates for this recruitment will be every other Friday commencing January 9, 2026. Applications may be processed on a flow basis prior to the cut-off-date to meet the hiring needs of the department. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and have eligibility by the application received date to be invited to participate in the next available scheduled interview and/or processed for conditional hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a valid license to practice speech pathology in California as determined by the Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee of the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance. (Includes possession of a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or deemed equivalent as defined by the Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee.) (Applicants who are in the process of securing approval of their qualifications by the Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee will be admitted to the examination but they must meet all the legal requirements in order to be eligible for appointment.)
