An AI fashion film is a short branded film that tells the story of a collection or a season through scenes built with generative AI. Fashion brands use these films most for season launches, holiday campaigns, vertical social content and extending their visual world. What makes an AI fashion film work is not the tool but how well it protects the brand's aesthetic. Below we cover the main uses, the hybrid approach and how to keep a brand's look intact, using the films we made for Prada, Roman and Suwen.

For the service itself and common questions, see our AI ad film production page.

What is an AI fashion film?

An AI fashion film is a film in which all or some of the scenes are created with generative AI tools to present a fashion brand's season, collection or visual world. The atmosphere takes shape through generation and selection, with many directions tested along the way; depending on the brief, the film is made entirely with AI or blended with live action. Where the texture of a fabric, the drape of a cut or an exact logo has to read perfectly, AI alone may not be enough, and those shots are finished with CGI or a shoot. AI's real strength in a fashion film is speed of exploration: the brand team can see many visual directions for the same season in a short time and choose between them.

What do fashion brands use AI films for?

Fashion brands mostly use AI films to convey the feeling of a season rather than the technical detail of a garment. The table shows the most common uses, each with an example from Clytech.

UseWhat the film doesExample
Season launchGathers the season's textures and mood into one cinematic storyRoman Winter 2026
Holiday and New Year campaignsBalances a celebratory mood with the brand's eleganceRoman New Year campaign
Concept and world-buildingStages a striking concept in the brand's aestheticSuwen boat AI film
Vertical social contentTurns fashion and technology into a vertical cinematic experiencePrada AI film
Concept developmentTests visual directions quickly before the campaign is lockedThe concept stage of a project

What the table has in common: in fashion communication, product detail is the job of the e-commerce page, and feeling is the job of the campaign film. AI films are strong at the second; they can gather a season's light, texture and mood into one short film. Where the product itself has to be shown, product photography, a shoot or a 3D model takes over.

The hybrid approach: AI, CGI and live action together

In fashion, the strongest results often come from a hybrid approach: the atmosphere and world come from AI, details that must look exactly right come from CGI, and live action covers the moments where people and movement need to feel real. Which method each scene uses depends on the brief. To take a hypothetical season film, the close-up of a garment might be shot on camera, the surreal setting around it generated with AI, and the closing frame with the logo built in CGI. Among our released work, Roman's Winter 2026 film is one example, blending fashion-film aesthetics with AI-driven production. We explain how live action, CGI and generative AI share one workflow in our piece on hybrid production.

How do you protect a brand's aesthetic?

You protect it by writing the rules down before production and selecting against them at every stage. These steps make that easier:

  • Visual rules: Colour palette, quality of light, framing and typography are written into the brief, and every generated frame is judged against them.
  • Style frames: A handful of key frames are approved before the film goes into production, and the whole film follows their language.
  • Product fidelity: Garments, prints and logos must stay true to the real thing; that's the final check. Depending on the project, the product comes from the brand's photos, our own shoot, a 3D model or AI.
  • Likeness and copyright: Faces that resemble real people and elements that evoke other brands are discussed before production starts.
  • Consistency: The model's look, the outfit and the light stay the same from scene to scene; inconsistent frames are cut at selection.
  • Sound and music: The tone of the music and sound design is part of the aesthetic too; the choice between licensed music and an original score is made early.
  • Colour and edit: The final grade and edit bring the film in line with the brand's signature style.

The most common mistake is deciding on the strength of one impressive frame; the real question is whether that quality holds across the whole film. The second is remembering the brand rules only after production has finished. Writing the rules down first and approving style frames prevents both.

We walk through these stages in more detail in our piece on the AI ad film process.

Examples from Clytech

Clytech is a CGI, FOOH and AI advertising studio based in Istanbul and London. Here are four AI films we made for fashion and luxury brands, two vertical and two horizontal:

Prada AI film. Made with AI tools, this film for Prada folds fashion, innovation and technology into a single cinematic experience. Its AI-generated scenes explore what new-generation content can look like for a luxury brand, delivered in a vertical format built for social media.

Roman New Year hybrid AI campaign. Made for Roman's New Year season, this hybrid AI campaign brings festive sparkle and high fashion together in scenes where reality and imagination blend. AI-assisted production keeps the brand's elegance in balance with the celebratory mood of the season.

Suwen boat AI film. Built around a striking boat concept, this AI film for Suwen brings together elegance, imagination and cinematic visuals, carrying the brand's aesthetic in a vertical format designed for social media. It's a good example of how a concept-led AI film can be cut for social.

Frequently asked questions

What is a hybrid AI campaign?

A campaign in which AI-generated imagery is used together with CGI, editing and colour work, or live action. How much of each layer goes into the film depends on the brief.

Can an AI fashion film replace a campaign shoot?

Not in every case. AI is strong at atmosphere and world-building; shots where fabric, cut and product detail must read exactly are finished with a shoot or CGI. Most projects combine methods.

Which formats are AI fashion films made in?

It depends on the channel. The Prada and Suwen films were made vertical (9:16) for social media, while the Roman campaigns were produced in 16:9. If one film will run across several channels, the framing is planned for that from the start.

Are model likeness and faces a risk?

Likeness, copyright and brand rules are discussed before production starts, and faces that resemble real people are ruled out at concept stage. Usage rights, channels and duration are agreed at the quote stage.

How long does an AI fashion film take?

The complexity of the idea and the approval rounds set the timeline; going from concept approval to delivery takes days rather than weeks on most projects. We confirm the exact schedule once we've seen the brief.
